Air Force Station Bhuj, located in Kutchh region of Gujarat experienced extreme climatic changes in terms of heat, rainfall and coastal region affects. Runway at Air Force Station Bhuj is primarily of flexible design and the surface due to continuous weather exposure, lack of maintenance issues etc showed acute signs of stripping, rutting, chipping, raveling and degradation of runway surface. The IAF airbase is used extensively for military flying and also for civilian flights. Operational necessity demanded immediate repairs to the damaged / degraded surface without any runway closure.
In 2014, LN Petrochem was called upon by MES to address the issue and repair the main runway, PTT and short runway. The product and a team of applicators were mobilized and complete surface area of about 1,50,000 sq mtrs on the main runway, PTT and short runway were rejuvenated. The entire work was mainly undertaken at night without any disruption to flying operations.
The work was highly appreciated by Air Force & MES and L N Petrochem was awarded a certificate of appreciation honoring its commitment, professionalism and technical approach.
