StiffCoat - Fibre Reinforced Slurry Seal for Rigid Pavements
StiffCoat (formerly known as Fibre Reinforced Slurryseal) is a high-performance, cementitious slurry designed for rigid pavement surface restoration, joint face protection and surface sealing where tensile reinforcement and crack bridging are required. The formulation combines hydraulic binders, graded fillers and engineered fibers to deliver a durable wearing and sealing layer.
Why Fibres Matter - Micro and macro fibres provide tensile reinforcement, limit crack reflection and improve impact resistance under heavy aircraft loads. The fibre network improves flexural performance, reducing propagation of micro-cracks and maintaining surface integrity under repeated wheel loading.
Typical Uses - Surface restoration of aprons, taxiways and rigid pavements where shallow distress, surface spalling or light scaling is present. It is also effective as a protective overlay for highly trafficked concrete areas to prevent ingress and extend structural service life.
Application and Curing - Applied using specialized slurry trucks or mixer-applicators, at controlled thicknesses to ensure proper bond and workability. Curing regimes are specified to control shrinkage and achieve designed strength. Joint and tie-bar transitions are treated to maintain continuity and avoid stress concentration.
Durability and Maintenance - The fibre reinforced system resists abrasion, chemical staining and jet blast. Repairable by spot removal and re-application. Supplied with test data showing compressive and flexural strength, permeability and adhesion characteristics relevant to airfield operations.
